REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Back in the BowlWhy is it so difficult to understand the impacts our purchases and waste have on other people, animals, and places? How might your experience with this challenge impact your future consumption and choices?
Karen Wilson 7/31/2019 8:05 PMIt only takes simple changes to make a big difference to the would around you. Things I now do - bring a fork/spoon with me from home to eat my lunch vs grabbing a plastic one out of the drawer, take a refillable water bottle with me to the gym, use reusable containers vs zip lock bags for storage. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Lather UpWhat are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?
Karen Wilson 7/31/2019 7:45 PMEven large corporations are getting the message about using refillable bottle options. InterContinental Group is eliminating the travel-sized tubes of shampoo, conditioner and bath gel from its 843,000 rooms across its global chain of hotels. Guests will find bulk-sized toiletries beginning in 2021. IHG said roughly 200 million miniature-sized toiletries are placed in rooms every year. Replacing them with bulk-sized accessories will lead to a "significant reduction in plastic waste," the company said. -
Karen Wilson 7/31/2019 7:34 PMSo good to see that wanting to reduce plastic use is a world wide effort. An example - Marks & Spencer (stores in the UK) are now offering a discount to customers that bring their own lunch boxes to purchase prepared 'food to go'. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable ContainersHow can you think outside the box (or bag!) when it comes to disposables?
Karen Wilson 7/30/2019 7:02 PMMason jars are wonderful items to use for storage. They come in multiple sizes and can last for many generations. -
