REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Lather UpWhat are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?
Hollie Wiegand 6/28/2019 3:19 PMIt will support other sustainable companies that are making these products. Waste companies will be spending less money on disposing of waste. I will not have to buy as many trash bags / make as many trips to the recycling. Reducing plastic waste. Bars also take up less room in my shower and are easier to pack. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPets Invest in a Pooper-ScooperHow are caring for your pet and caring for the environment connected for you?
Hollie Wiegand 6/28/2019 3:18 PMIf there is no environment, than my pet cannot thrive. End of story. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Travel EatingWas this action easy or difficult to do? How did it change your travel experience?
Hollie Wiegand 6/28/2019 3:17 PMCarrying my own snacks is nice because I am able to eat exactly what I want, rather than what is provided. Carrying my own silverware is nice because I know I always have it. It also tends to be a conversation starter with people as well. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Lobby for ReusablesWhat are some of the cases you could make to an employer for why switching to durable dishes and utensils is actually in their best interest as well?
Hollie Wiegand 6/28/2019 3:15 PMIn the long run, it would save the company money. They would be spending less money on the disposables, and also less money for trash pick up. It could also bring them more business from the people who choose to live sustainable and refuse to shop / dine elsewhere. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Minimize PackagingWith the added mindfulness of reducing your packaging, what have you noticed about the amount and type of single use plastics used for packaging when you shop in the grocery store?
Hollie Wiegand 6/28/2019 3:13 PMI realize that it is actually an overwhelming amount, more than I ever actually considered. You can find these plastics in almost everything. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Start CompostingDo an inventory of how much food waste you would save from going to the landfill if you start composting all of the time. What are the added benefits of having compost that is readily accessible?
Hollie Wiegand 6/28/2019 3:12 PMHaving a compost readily accessible means A) more people are likely to use it because they won't have to go out of their way. B) items that are composted are less items that will be taking up space in a trash bag (so less bags being used), and ultimately less space in the landfill. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Shop the Bulk BinsHow has buying bulk impacted the quality of the food you receive? Why do you think Western society relies more on prepackaged foods rather than buying in bulk?
Hollie Wiegand 6/28/2019 3:11 PMI don't think buying bulk has changed the quality of the food that I receive, I think it changes the convenience factor. Western society is so focused on getting things immediately with as little amount of work put into it, which is why I think our society relies on prepackaged foods so much. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use a Reusable Mug / Collapsible CupGreat job on getting rid of your disposable cup habit! How does it make you feel? What's next on your list to reduce your waste?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Keep My Community CleanHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Hollie Wiegand 6/28/2019 3:09 PMPicking up litter eliminates the amount of waste leakage that will most likely end up in our local water streams. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Share My ActionsIn what ways is social media an effective tool for sharing your values?
Hollie Wiegand 6/28/2019 3:09 PMSocial media is the main way individuals receive information. You can also tag other organizations in your posts for people to view sources and get more information.
