Carol White
"We are way past thinking "somebody should do something." We should translate the phrase to "I have to do something." All of us are responsible for the problem and all of us are responsible for the solution. Jump in the deep end or dip a toe but be accountable. Be aware and start somewhere!"

Carol White 7/31/2019 4:54 AMThis has been an eye opening month. I think I've got some habits set and a good start on others. Can't wait for next year. See you all then. -
Carol White 7/30/2019 5:43 AMWell, I'm not going to get the makeup challenge done before tomorrow. I do have some resources for recipes and as soon as I have the extra funds, I can order the ingredients. It will stay on my to do list. -
Carol White 7/29/2019 3:51 PMDoing some clutter clearing over the weekend and found more reusable glass jars. -
Carol White 7/28/2019 3:43 PMCan't believe we're almost through July. I hope by the time the challenge comes around next year that I've been able to make even more plastic substitutions. -
Carol White 7/27/2019 8:17 PMDid some research on growing microgreens indoors with repurposed clamshells. -
Carol White 7/26/2019 5:35 AMSaw a post yesterday about ZAO cosmetics which sounded promising since they are refillable and use a lot of bamboo. So I emailed them and asked my two standard questions--how are they sourcing their tocopherols and are there any phthalates in their products. The prompt reply was good and bad. They don't have any phthalates which makes them a viable option but the tocopherols are sourced from soy which negates that viability. I'll have to email them back and educate them on how toxic soy is to the body. I wonder if they at least use non-GMO soy. Same toxins plus glyphosate in GMO soy.
My current makeup is gluten and soy free but is packaged in plastic. The other cosmetics I've looked at with less or no plastic have soy or phthalates. I guess this means I have to make ALL my makeup at home so I can control the ingredients. -
Carol White 7/25/2019 5:44 AMYesterday, I sent a suggestion to management that the organization should stop spending money on single-use plastic utensils, plates, and cups. This is the first organization I've worked for (in 40+ years of working) that provides all this plastic. -
Carol White 7/24/2019 5:57 AMYesterday at work I heard a coworker ask another if she had heard about reusable produce bags. I was just about to turn around to tell her about mine when the other woman said, "sure, I have some." As they got on the elevator, I did a little happy dance and went back to my desk. -
Carol White 7/23/2019 5:04 AMDiscovered that we have a local zero waste market. Can't wait to check it out and see what they have. -
Carol White 7/22/2019 5:34 AMOrdered a few things online yesterday for delivery because I couldn't get to the store. I'm so used to doing without the plastic produce bags it didn't dawn on me that the green onions and avocados would be in plastic bags. Next time I have to order online, I'll specifically request no plastic.
