James's actions
Personal Care
That Was a Close Shave
I will replace my disposable razors with steel razors. Why not try using hair conditioner instead of shaving foam for that baby smooth feel?
Food
Use Reusable Containers
I will only use reusable containers instead of single-use plastic storage items (such as plastic wrap, single-use sandwich bags).
Food
Cook a Zero-Plastic Waste Meal
I will prepare 1 meal(s) at home each day without using any items packaged in single-use plastic.
Community
Keep My Community Clean
I will pick up 5 piece(s) of litter each day.
Food
Use Reusable Utensils
I will keep 2 plastic cutlery out of the landfill per day by using my own reusable cutlery.
Food
Buy Unpackaged Produce
I will purchase produce items without plastic packaging.
Participant Feed

Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

James Weston 7/10/2019 12:59 PMDoes anyone have any tips or tricks for how to replace plastic garbage bags?-
Life Unplastic 7/10/2019 9:54 PMEveryone's situation is a little different, but I've been able to get away with usually just one trash bag to the road each week (me, husband, two dogs, 1 cat).... after composting food scraps, using a tupperware system for the litter box (where I scoop into the tupperware and empty that once a week before garbage day, sanitize, repeat) and recycling what I can, typically there is actually very little left to actually need to send to the landfill.
There's a local compost called Beaten Path Garden where you can take your food scraps if you don't have one at home. -
Brooke Tate 7/10/2019 6:04 PMYou could possibly put your food waste in a compost bin and line your trashcan with paper or nothing, especially if majority of your food waste goes into a separate compost bin! I haven't fully implemented this myself though, just heard good things.
