I went to my favorite place for lunch yesterday, and read a bit of 101 Ways to go Zero Waste by Kathryn Kellogg. I highly recommend reading it, even if you think you know all the answers!

So I eat takeout a lot! You might think that’s a bad thing for this particular challenge, however, knowing what kind of packaging a restaurant uses helps me avoid plastic. Also, being a “regular” at some local places gives me some leverage to ask for special treatment (like putting food in my reusable containers).  I’ve also “trained” a few places to not put my items in a plastic bag, not give me plastic cutlery, asking other customers if they want straws instead of assuming everyone does, etc. Remember, this is your challenge, use the knowledge and skills you have to your advantage, and you can really have an impact! Keep up the great work everyone!!
