The kids estimate that at least 75% of restaurants in town no longer provide a straw automatically - though many will bring one if you ask. We never ask! And have started carrying a set of metal straws with us when we go out. It’s a real gearshift, but it feels immediately productive.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Cook a Zero-Plastic Waste Meal
Do an inventory of your kitchen to see how many single-use plastics you've used in the past. What are some resuable alternatives to these commonly used products? What would your impact be if you switched all the single-use products from your inventory to reusable?

We have done this recently, swapping out plastic for glass wherever we could; they’re sturdier, more fun to handle, and less likely to contaminate the food we store.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

How can you think outside the box (or bag!) when it comes to disposables?

We just bought a set of glass “Tupperware” of all shapes and sizes - so even our reusables are greener than they used to be.

For the kids it develops a taste for more natural and organic food, it’s obviously healthier; and it reduces waste!
