REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Skip the StrawHave you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.
Sasha Shirazi 6/13/2019 8:27 PMSometimes, the backlash can be emotionally exhausting. For every person that spoke out in favor of reusable straws, someone else made it sound pointless. The difference occurs when you see individuals taking action- I'm so proud when I see someone take out their reusable straw and know that we are fighting the same fight together! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable BagsHow difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?
Sasha Shirazi 6/13/2019 8:26 PMRemembering to have things set up for future activities (such as grocery shopping) is always difficult. Making a habit of keeping helpful objects in ways that can benefit you is the only way to make it easier- individual actions help but habits tend to keep. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable Water BottlesUsing the links provided, investigate the bottling practices of water corporations. There have been many cases where the water rights of the local people have been violated or even completely disregarded when a corporation decides to bottle water from a particular water source. How can you advocate for those who have been harmed by this bottling process?
Sasha Shirazi 6/13/2019 8:24 PMInforming others about the harm in bottled water and those harmed by it helps collectively prevent those atrocities from happening again- water should be protected, maintained and available to those in the communities that rely on those sources, not something that corporations can steal for a cheap profit. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Keep My Community CleanHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Sasha Shirazi 6/13/2019 8:21 PMBy investing my personal time and effort into maintaining common grounds, I become closer to sharing a common ground with my community! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Host a House PartyWhat are the benefits of hosting a house party related to getting to know your guests, connecting them to the cause you are focusing on, and building your community?
Sasha Shirazi 6/13/2019 8:20 PMSpreading information about why it is important to reduce waste might be as important as reducing in my own life- imagine what we can accomplish together!
