Dori Sayre 7/31/2019 4:31 PMCampers today took some time to pick up plastic trash by Snavely! Disappointed that there was SO much trash within ten feet of a trash can, but our group of campers taking the initiative to pick it all up was so sweet! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Watch a DocumentaryWhich documentary did you choose to watch? What did you learn?
Dori Sayre 7/30/2019 5:30 PMI watched a playlist of SciShow videos. I learned that accidentally ingesting plastic might be harmful to us because some plastic compounds are so similar to hormone compounds and can affect our body systems. -
Dori Sayre 7/30/2019 5:01 PMPlastic free July is coming to an end, but I really believe I will be able to keep up with the small changes I have made this month to reduce plastic waste and just be more conscious of what I am using overall. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Travel ToiletriesWhat is the benefit of using bar soaps or refilling your travel sized containers? Is this an action you think you will keep in your life?
Dori Sayre 7/27/2019 5:44 AMMy favorite parts about bringing my own toiletries and reusing the containers is that I don’t have to buy anything extra - I can just refill from what I already have - and that I know I’m using stuff that I like! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Brusha Brusha BrushaWhat are the benefits of switching to bamboo toothbrushes? How would you implore others in your community to make this switch as well?
Dori Sayre 7/23/2019 3:11 PMBamboo is much more sustainable than plastic. I would think that if bamboo toothbrushes were more accessible and we were to spread awareness about them, then this would be an easy switch for anybody, regardless of where they are in their plastic-free journey. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Complete a Waste AuditWhat did you learn about the waste you create? Where can you reduce the most?
Dori Sayre 7/23/2019 3:05 PMThe majority of my waste came from food products. I can do better by buying more fresh produce and making more homemade meals. I will be making an effort to cook more and visit the farmers market more often! -
Dori Sayre 7/16/2019 5:31 PMI forgot a dumb fork for my lunch today and had to get a plastic one from the Beastro. UGH. My lunch wasn’t even that good. Hoping to get my spork soon and keep it in my backpack for days like this! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Keep My Community CleanHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Dori Sayre 7/16/2019 3:44 AMI feel like living so close to the water has given me a greater appreciation for the animals who are affected by plastic litter. Picking it up when I can helps me to remember those animals and gives me a chance to educate others on litter and these animals. Also, who wants to live in a dirty stinky city? -
Dori Sayre 7/12/2019 2:49 PMI went to Tropical Smoothie this morning, and they accepted my reusable cup to fill with my smoothie! -
Dori Sayre 7/09/2019 3:29 PMI just ordered a bunch of reusable plastic bags to use in my classroom this fall! I’m hoping this will help me to organize activities for each week and various crafty supplies without the use of ziploc that gets ripped or tossed so frequently.
