Many people use reusable straws, and paper straws are becoming a big thing for my company. However, there is much work to be done, as many local restaurants still give out plastic straws, without even asking to give customers the chance to turn down the straw and save it from use.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Use Reusable Utensils
How can you be an advocate for using resusables instead of disposables for the rest of your community? Where are they currently dependent on disposable cutlery, and how can you convince them of the need for change?

I lead a team of facilitators who facilitate property orientations at our zoo. We have created activities that encourage sharing of conservation actions, many including using reusables instead of disposables, to encourage our newest team members to take actions in their community, as well as share how our guests can help back home.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Use Reusable Containers
How can you think outside the box (or bag!) when it comes to disposables?

Great job on getting rid of your disposable cup habit! How does it make you feel? What's next on your list to reduce your waste?

I want to start bringing reusable containers to restaurants for leftovers, so I can say no to Styrofoam takeout containers.
