REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Skip the StrawHave you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.
Judy Roderiques 7/13/2019 12:17 PMI often forget to say "no straw" so I have a collection. Not sure what to do with them but I keep them because otherwise I know they will get thrown out even though I did not use them. My goal now is to remember to tell waitpersons not to give me a straw. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Make Your OwnHow do you feel about being more involved in the food preparation process? Joyful, overwhelmed, engaged, empowered? What are the benefits of choosing to process or produce your own food instead of buying it pre-processed?
Judy Roderiques 7/13/2019 12:13 PMI enjoy baking and am trying new recipes. I find the food tastes better and you can tweek things to suit your own preferences. I feel good when I make things even if they don't come out as well as I would have liked. Smelling the food as it cooks is an added benefit! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Minimize PackagingWith the added mindfulness of reducing your packaging, what have you noticed about the amount and type of single use plastics used for packaging when you shop in the grocery store?
Judy Roderiques 7/11/2019 12:59 PMWe give gifts to our volunteers each year. This year we are giving them all reusable produce bags. The bags can also be used as regular small shopping bags that can easily fit in a purse or even a pocket. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable UtensilsHow can you be an advocate for using resusables instead of disposables for the rest of your community? Where are they currently dependent on disposable cutlery, and how can you convince them of the need for change?
Judy Roderiques 7/11/2019 12:58 PMI asked fellow employees to bring in thier own utensils and I have seen a number of them doing so!!!! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Complete a Waste AuditWhat did you learn about the waste you create? Where can you reduce the most?
Judy Roderiques 7/08/2019 12:03 PMI was surprised and a little horrified at how much waste I produced! Will try to be more aware as I move forward -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusables at WorkIt is often true that we only have control over our own actions and not the collective community. How can you lead by example when it comes to switching disposables for reusable dishes in your community?
Judy Roderiques 7/04/2019 6:53 AMI bring my food in reusable containers and bring extra forks and spoons to share with people to discourage the use of plastic. I even promise to wash the forks and spoons myself.
