Gabriela Rivarde 7/06/2019 9:21 AMHi all,
David Kroll had shared this petition before but I wanted to go ahead and share it again. I think it is a great and much needed change for Mardi Gras. https://www.change.org/p/new-orleans-mayor-office-create-less-mardi-gras-waste-recycle-and-ban-toxic-beads?signed=true
My son and I love Mardi Gras but lately I feel terrible at the amount of waste that we generate. My son just stopped wanting to participate in any carnival festivities because two years ago, we found a poor bird tangled in plastic beads. We took the birdie to the vet but unfortunately, he had also ingested some of the beads and had to be put down. We can celebrate without hurting wildlife. -
Gabriela Rivarde 7/04/2019 12:33 PMHappy fourth everyone! Cheers to all of you using compostable dinnerware :) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPets Try a Pet Shampoo BarIn what ways does your pet make your life happier, more interesting, or more rewarding?
Gabriela Rivarde 7/04/2019 12:03 PMI just read an article about bathing dogs with a neutral pH dog soap and found out that the all natural goats milk soap that I use has a pH of 7. The soap bar that I use for myself has lavender essential oil and smells delicious. I'll be giving Felix a bath with it. I'll let you all know ow it went. I'm excited to ditch the dog shampoo plastic bottles!

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Shop the Bulk BinsHow has buying bulk impacted the quality of the food you receive? Why do you think Western society relies more on prepackaged foods rather than buying in bulk?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Plant a GardenBesides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?
Gabriela Rivarde 7/03/2019 2:05 PMI started a basil garden from basil seeds. I'm excited to be able to use this on my dishes. Saving money and the planet! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Start CompostingDo an inventory of how much food waste you would save from going to the landfill if you start composting all of the time. What are the added benefits of having compost that is readily accessible?
Gabriela Rivarde 7/03/2019 2:04 PMComposting reduces my waste and I use my compost to help my garden be more healthy. It adds nutrients to the soil.
