REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Skip the StrawHave you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.
Tara Riemer 7/15/2019 10:41 AMI definitely have heard a few people comment about the person who was stabbed by a stainless steel straw... at least people are paying attention even if it wasn't positive news about going plastic-free! -
Tara Riemer 7/08/2019 2:13 PMI picked up more than 2 pieces of trash just between my car and the building this morning. Sad but true. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Volunteer in my CommunityHow does volunteering enhance your community and/or change your relationship with it?
Tara Riemer 7/05/2019 4:04 PMIt was amazing to volunteer with Sustainable Seward as part of Red White and Blue Goes GREEN. So many people in the community were thanking us for encouraging less plastic and more sustainable living on July 4th. -
Tara Riemer 7/02/2019 6:44 PMI'm so excited to be off and running for July! -
Tara Riemer 6/28/2019 7:21 PMIf you are a Facebooker, the Alaska Zero Waste group is a great place for Alaska-relevant ideas. It is a closed group, but easy to request membership. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1700181956710500/ -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Keep My Community CleanHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Tara Riemer 6/28/2019 7:19 PMWhen I'm looking for litter, I notice more about my community... about the plants and the buildings and the people! -
Tara Riemer 6/27/2019 7:40 PMI'm trying to high-five TaraM for her postcast email today but I can't figure out how. So high-five anyhow!!!! -
Tara Riemer 6/25/2019 7:30 PMI'm excited that our team is growing! I'm so sad by the plastic liners in soda cans link... -
Tara Riemer 6/19/2019 3:38 PMI was at a meeting today to plan "Red White and Blue Goes Green" with Sustainable Seward. What's that you ask?? Sustainable Seward is a local grassroots group who is working to make Seward a more sustainable place. Sustainable Seward, ASLC and the Seward Chamber are teaming up for the first time to provide recycling stations on July 4th. But we need volunteers! Please email me ([email protected]) if you are interested in the link to volunteering. I'll try to put the link here as well... https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a044baca82babf94-4thofjuly -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable UtensilsHow can you be an advocate for using resusables instead of disposables for the rest of your community? Where are they currently dependent on disposable cutlery, and how can you convince them of the need for change?
Tara Riemer 6/18/2019 4:50 PMI love to pull out my reusable utensils from my computer bag as frequently as possible to show others how easy it is to bring your own.
