Lindsey Randall 7/11/2019 2:15 PMThe challenge has been pretty easy. I have run into some issues with my daughters lunch where she is unable to take reusable materials due to field trips.-
Eve Wallin 7/15/2019 10:17 PMHi Lindsey. I had a similar issue. I usually send reusable snack bags, utensils, stainless steel / glass containers, etc. in my kids' lunches. Their summer camps wanted 100% disposable lunches so I ended up getting them biodegradable / compostable paper snack / lunch bags and wooden cutlery. There are a lot of options on Amazon.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable UtensilsHow can you be an advocate for using resusables instead of disposables for the rest of your community? Where are they currently dependent on disposable cutlery, and how can you convince them of the need for change?
Lindsey Randall 7/11/2019 12:53 PMI have been carrying around an extra fork in my purse so when I go out to eat with a co-worker, I ask if they'd like to use the metal fork instead. It allows for an opportunity to talk about plastic waste. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Plant a GardenBesides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?
Lindsey Randall 7/11/2019 12:52 PMMy daughter has had a great time watering the vegetables and talks about how she is going to cook with them and try new and different foods. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Buy Unpackaged ProduceWhy do you think these produce products started amassing so much plastic packaging? Who is the plastic packaging really serving -- the consumer, the producer, or someone else?
Lindsey Randall 7/11/2019 12:51 PMConvenience and people thinking that there are germs and contaminants everywhere. As we wash produce before we use it anyway, there is really no need to package everything in its own plastic containers. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable BagsHow difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?
Lindsey Randall 7/11/2019 12:50 PMThis wasn't difficult at all. I have been bringing my reusable bags with me to the store so I haven't had any issue.
