I was able to do a small walk around my block yesterday and was able to pick up some trash along with a coke can. My neighborhood overall is in pretty good condition, but there are the few pieces that fly our or get dropped out of a car.

At the Ballpark I was able to help out by picking up a few pieces of trash. Sometimes I can't believe people will drop items... and not think to put them in the trash..

Do you "break the wallet" or save the earth? Its hard to choose at times. Then its, do you make a list of items you would like to replace with better choices. This is a great example. I need floss soon, so do I go and buy a bulk of dental floss from Costco for 8 $ that will last two years... or buy a glass container and reusable dental floss that will last a family of three 2 months for the same price...http://lifewithoutplastic.com/plastic-free-dental-floss-from-natural-silk-in-refillable-glass-jar-berry-blue/

    Its hard!

This last week my family was out of town leaving me to my own accord. I went through an audit visually and saw everything that I solely go through. It was enough to make me think,...Having better resources at home with trash cans, and a large in home compost bin would help keep us organized. I think trying to purchase more items from the Farmers Market might help reduce the strawberry packages, the grape packages. Its hard to break these small habits. Though I reuse my berry packages... Its hard to get away from buying product without plastic! How do you do it?

This weekend, I went to the farmers market and forgot my straw. Instead of using a throw away straw, I purchased another reusable one for 3 $. I washed and cleaned it and put it in my bike bag so the next time I am out, I can use it again!

This week dehydrating carrots for my little girl for her welcome home was great. She got to snack on her favorite snack and eat it in a different manner. Possibly sucked all the good stuff out of the little buggers, but they were different and better then the alternative.

Another great read- Storing products like cheese in airtight containers. Smearing oils on the side of the cheese will help reduce it getting dried. I think cheese cloth would help as well!

This looks like it do-able and I am now in search of containers! Such a great idea, freeze to cook to keep in refrig.

This was a hard to swallow article. Thinking about what we would actual do.
We compost, we recycle, but we still have a trash container that we use. I think we could avoid from using a trash liner, but we would have to clean it out daily, placing whatever items into the larger, outside can immediately. Also getting my husband onboard too. Basically people have, compost, trash, recycling. The icky stuff could go in compost? Unless its meats and eggs and cheese, basically animal bi-product, so that would have to go in the trash since at our home we don't compost animal bi-product... Hmm its definitely a thought?!?! But what to do.
