REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Lather UpWhat are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?
Kate Perry 7/31/2019 12:17 PMIt's been interesting ... I honestly I kind of miss some of the old stuff, so I'm not sure I can keep up 100% of the switch over. Long term I need to find balance and perhaps more product variety -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Pretty oh so PrettyHow can you advocate for the importance of reducing packaging to the rest of your friends, family and larger community?
Kate Perry 7/31/2019 12:14 PMI think the biggest way is simply to engage with them and not be afraid to point out why you have a nifty matching cloth napkin and silverware holder for your lunchbox, ect ... instead of sidestepping... I normally don't explain the why part -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Buy Only What I NeedAs you have reduced your spending, what have you noticed about your 'health and safety' purchasing habits? How might this change your longer term purchasing decisions?
Kate Perry 7/31/2019 12:11 PMI have found the kids have been impacted the most by this as the splurges are usually for the smallest members of the family. I have also found we just go to the store less ... the fro yo reduction has been hardest -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Watch a DocumentaryWhich documentary did you choose to watch? What did you learn?
Kate Perry 7/31/2019 12:08 PMWe learned about the oceans and it was just devastating seeing the trash islands that have built up...and we have no one to blame but ourselves -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Start CompostingDo an inventory of how much food waste you would save from going to the landfill if you start composting all of the time. What are the added benefits of having compost that is readily accessible?
Kate Perry 7/31/2019 12:06 PMSo typically we just compost yard waste, but we started adding some food waste. As to the benefit, we have been using it for landscaping for years...its free and it works -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Host a House PartyWhat are the benefits of hosting a house party related to getting to know your guests, connecting them to the cause you are focusing on, and building your community?
Kate Perry 7/31/2019 12:03 PMIt was a family gathering. So it was about bonding and sharing and chatting ... what's new ...let me tell you about this eco challenge I started and how its changed my routine -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Volunteer in my CommunityHow does volunteering enhance your community and/or change your relationship with it?
