REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Watch a DocumentaryWhich documentary did you choose to watch? What did you learn?
Dani Pergola 7/31/2019 11:17 AMI watched Planet Earth, which highlighted the effect of plastics in the ocean. It provided a real example of what I am fighting for. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Lather UpWhat are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?
Dani Pergola 7/31/2019 11:16 AMThey last longer and are ultimately cheaper than bottled versions, which I didn't know until I purchased my shampoo bar! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Natural FibersWhat are the benefits (to people, animals, and the environment) of purchasing clothes made with natural fibers?
Dani Pergola 7/31/2019 11:16 AMClothes made of natural fibers are usually higher quality, which benefits me, and don't use plastic, which benefits the natural world -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Share My ActionsIn what ways is social media an effective tool for sharing your values?
Dani Pergola 7/31/2019 11:15 AMSocial media allows me to communicate my values to all of my friends, family, peers, etc, all at the same time. -
Dani Pergola 7/31/2019 11:13 AMI can't believe I went 31 days without using any ziploc bags! It makes me realize that I really don't need them, and what a waste they are! -
Dani Pergola 7/24/2019 12:58 PMThe longer food has to travel to get to you, the more plastic is generally used. When you buy local food and produce, you are getting great tasting food and reducing your plastic footprint! -
Dani Pergola 7/17/2019 6:37 AMMy biggest challenge is when I'm in a rush! It's so much easier to throw something in a plastic bag than anything else. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Naked BinsDoes changing the lining of your waste bin change the kind or amount of trash you produce?
Dani Pergola 7/10/2019 8:23 AMWhen my trash can is lined with paper bags it always jogs my memory to be more sustainable. I am more likely to recycle and less likely to discard things I can't reuse -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Buy Unpackaged ProduceWhy do you think these produce products started amassing so much plastic packaging? Who is the plastic packaging really serving -- the consumer, the producer, or someone else?
Dani Pergola 7/10/2019 7:17 AMIn many cases, I think plastic is used so often because it is convenient. It is convenient to the consumer, but most of all it is convenient (and profitable) to the retailer. For example, plastic containers allow stores to sell cut fruit, which they charge much higher prices for than whole, unwrapped fruit. -
Dani Pergola 7/08/2019 11:02 AMI'm trying to find granola bars/breakfast bars that do not come individually wrapped in plastic, let me know if you have any suggestions!
