Cheryl's actions
Food
Start Composting
I will start a compost collection at home, work, or school.
Pets
Pet Waste
I will spend 30 minutes learning how to compost pet waste at home or research pet waste composting services available in my area.
Community
Estimate Your Plastic Consumption and Go #PlasticNeutral
I will visit rePurpose website, complete the 3-minute plastic consumption calculator, and explore how I can reBalance my annual plastic footprint.
Food
Use Reusable Water Bottles
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 1 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Lifestyle
Travel Toiletries
If traveling, I will reuse my old travel tubes to refill with my soaps or only bring bar soaps with me in a TSA approved reusable quart sized bag.
Personal Care
Dam the Flow
I will use a menstrual cup and/or cloth pads
Food
Lobby for Reusables
I will lobby my workplace to have reusable dishes and silverware in order to minimize disposables.
Community
Join a Cleanup Effort
I will host or participate in a beach, highway, river, or other cleanup effort in my community.
Lifestyle
Natural Fibers
When available, I will purchase clothing made with natural fibers, such as cotton, linen, or wool, rather than synthetic fibers.
Lifestyle
Travel Smart
If traveling, I will bring my own plastic free items (water bottle, grocery bags, collapsible food containers, utensils, straws, etc.) with me.
Personal Care
That Was a Close Shave
I will replace my disposable razors with steel razors. Why not try using hair conditioner instead of shaving foam for that baby smooth feel?
Food
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases, including produce bags.
Food
Use Reusable Utensils
I will keep 1 plastic cutlery out of the landfill per day by using my own reusable cutlery.
Food
Use Reusable Containers
I will only use reusable containers instead of single-use plastic storage items (such as plastic wrap, single-use sandwich bags).
Food
Skip the Straw
I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill per day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.

Cheryl Payne 7/28/2019 6:31 AMThree more days of the challenge! Every little bit we do helps! -
Cheryl Payne 7/27/2019 5:56 AMDid you know, Kenya passed a plastic bag ban in 2017 that makes it illegal to sell or use a single use plastic bag. Violaters face heavy fines and possible jail time. The impact of the ban is seen in fewer plastic bags in streets and waterways, but has also raised costs on small businesses, the biodegradable alternatives are six times more expensive. -
Cheryl Payne 7/26/2019 8:50 AMI remembered to ask for no straw in my water last night, but then they still brought a straw in my lemonade :(. -
