Go Green or Go Home

"My goal is to be more cognizant of my actions whether it is eating using reusable silverware, using eco-friendly packaging like wax paper and foil and glass containers and hoping to eventually expand to other areas in my life such as toiletries and personal items. "

I don't usually buy drinks that come with a straw so this has been low on my priority to buy a reusable straw.

How can you think outside the box (or bag!) when it comes to disposables?

I stopped buying plastic ziploc bags and instead switched over to the wax paper bags when I need a bag for a snack or a sandwich. Otherwise, I use foil. I also invested in a set of glassware containers of different sizes. Although it is heavier than plastic containers and take out boxes, it allows me to control my portion sizes and easier to clean without having staining.

This week I actually remembered my reusable bags when going grocery shopping. I try to remember to keep the reusable bags in my car in case I need to do some shopping on the go.

It is often true that we only have control over our own actions and not the collective community. How can you lead by example when it comes to switching disposables for reusable dishes in your community?

I started using reusable silverware from home because a co-worker of mine was using his silverware from home. This encouraged me and it was easy knowing I wasn't the only one. I keep a set of silverware at work in a breakroom drawer.
