REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Skip the StrawHave you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.
Destiny Osmialowski 7/08/2019 9:17 AMI always have my big old silicone straws for my water bottles that look enormous, but they get the job done! I'm purchasing a small collapsible straw for drinks on the go. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Cook a Zero-Plastic Waste MealDo an inventory of your kitchen to see how many single-use plastics you've used in the past. What are some resuable alternatives to these commonly used products? What would your impact be if you switched all the single-use products from your inventory to reusable?
Destiny Osmialowski 7/08/2019 9:17 AMI bring my own reusable stay-fresh vegetable bags to the store for bagging and buying and storing. It's hard to get away from plastic when buying dairy and cheese products, but we try to minimize it as much as possible. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable UtensilsHow can you be an advocate for using resusables instead of disposables for the rest of your community? Where are they currently dependent on disposable cutlery, and how can you convince them of the need for change?
Destiny Osmialowski 7/08/2019 9:15 AMAt my office we've eliminated disposable utensils and bought just a simple set of cutlery for people to use. Given the option for both disposable and reusable, most people would grab the plastic fork to avoid cleaning. Nope! No more choices. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Make Your OwnHow do you feel about being more involved in the food preparation process? Joyful, overwhelmed, engaged, empowered? What are the benefits of choosing to process or produce your own food instead of buying it pre-processed?
Destiny Osmialowski 7/08/2019 9:14 AMI gain a lot of pride from making something really tasty and unique. Making my own desserts and breads has been new for me and I'm enjoying it a lot! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable ContainersHow can you think outside the box (or bag!) when it comes to disposables?
Destiny Osmialowski 7/08/2019 9:12 AMI like to keep inexpensive tupperware at home so that when guests come over I send them home with leftovers! That way I'm minimizing food waste and they can either return the tupperware or reuse it themselves.
