Kaysea's actions
Family
Provide the Alternatives
I will provide daily plastic free alternatives (straws, water bottles, cuttlery, bar soap, bamboo toothbrushes, etc.) for my family to use.
Pets
Rubber Glove Pet Hair Removal
I will use a rubber glove to remove pet hair from clothes, carpets and furniture.
Personal Care
That Was a Close Shave
I will replace my disposable razors with steel razors. Why not try using hair conditioner instead of shaving foam for that baby smooth feel?
Personal Care
Just Say No
I will avoid buying toxic plastics, including polycarbonate, polystyrene and polyvinyl.
Family
Glass Bottle Baby
I will replace 3 plastic bottles with glass or stainless steel alternatives.
Food
Use a Reusable Mug / Collapsible Cup
I will avoid sending 5 disposable cup(s) to the landfill per day by using a reusable mug or bringing my own collapsible cup.
Food
Skip the Straw
I will keep 3 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill per day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHave you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.
Kaysea Moody 7/03/2019 10:58 AMI'm seeing posts about reusable straws almost every day now, which is great! I think it's one of those things that we don't normally think about because single use plastic straws are so readily available and given out virtually everywhere. It's such a simple thing that can actually help quite a bit, but we have to remember that it doesn't stop there. While using reusable straws is a great start, we need to focus on eliminating all single use plastics! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal CareWhat have you noticed about the economic and social impact of switching to steel razors? Was there ever really a need for disposable razors, or do you think it was just a way to sell more things?
Kaysea Moody 7/03/2019 10:32 AMThe switch to reusable razors has been amazing! Not only have they been working better for me, but I'm also saving a ton of money not constantly buying disposable one use razors. It is a little more expensive to start out with a new one, but it has already proven to be well worth it! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFamilyWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) does your family regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Kaysea Moody 7/01/2019 10:28 AMMy family is huge on plastic sandwich bags, so I have decided to replace the plastic with brown paper bags instead! -
