Jaime Milway 7/31/2019 5:35 AMThis has been an amazing month. It's been really helpful to make me understand how much waste we make. Thank you for letting me be a part of this movement. -
Jaime Milway 7/30/2019 6:02 AMThis challenge has made me rethink how much I waste and how easy it is to change with simple everyday actions. I'm really concerned about our planet and my grandchildren's children and how our actions will effect their future. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Takeout ProHow could you mitigate issues that may arise if the restaurant does not want to let you use your own containers at first?
Jaime Milway 7/28/2019 4:00 AMI'll tell them I'm saving them money and I bought the food so I'm taking it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable ContainersHow can you think outside the box (or bag!) when it comes to disposables?
Jaime Milway 7/23/2019 8:25 AMWhen my reusable containers are getting worn out, I use them for crafts and other projects. I recently used some worn out plastic bowls to make cement mushrooms for my flower garden. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Make Your OwnHow do you feel about being more involved in the food preparation process? Joyful, overwhelmed, engaged, empowered? What are the benefits of choosing to process or produce your own food instead of buying it pre-processed?
Jaime Milway 7/23/2019 8:20 AMI've grown several pounds of cucumbers so we made pickles. It's very satisfying to say we made our own pickles and they taste great. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Plant a GardenBesides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?
Jaime Milway 7/23/2019 8:17 AMI've started a compost pile for my garden which reduces the waste in the garbage and I'm replenishing my garden soil.
Also I don't use pesticides so I know the vegetables I'm growing are good for my family. -
Jaime Milway 7/11/2019 5:26 AMMy challenge is making 3 meals a day with zero plastic waste. It's actually not that hard and we are eating fresher, healthier foods. We haven't eaten any packaged foods since July 1st. The only waste we've had are meat trays and we recycle those for my grandchildren's crafts. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Cook a Zero-Plastic Waste MealDo an inventory of your kitchen to see how many single-use plastics you've used in the past. What are some resuable alternatives to these commonly used products? What would your impact be if you switched all the single-use products from your inventory to reusable?
Jaime Milway 7/10/2019 1:56 PMI replaced my Keurig k-cups with a reusable cup and buy bag coffee, have metal straws, use metal utensils and have a reusable water bottle.-
Debbi S 7/10/2019 2:09 PMYIPPEE!! Hooray!! And, good for you and the environment.
