REFLECTION QUESTIONPets Pet WasteBy composting your pet waste, you are turning waste into nutrients to feed the soil. In what other ways can you turn waste into a resource in your life?
Gina Miani 7/26/2019 5:32 AMMy first approach to reducing waste is through mindful purchases (i.e. thrift shopping, purchasing sustainable items in minimal waste packaging, or not purchasing something at all!). For items that I no longer want or need, I will consider re-selling, gifting, donating, or re-purposing the item (turning an old tshirt into a kitchen cloth). For more consumable items, I will briefly research alternative disposal methods, including identifying optimal channels through which I can recycle the item. At the end of the day, a quick google search also helps me find ways to turn waste into something else! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Pearly WhitesCurrently most of the packaging for toothpaste is plastic. How can you advocate for more alternatives through your purchasing power and influence in community?
Gina Miani 7/20/2019 6:32 AMInspired by this challenge, I started to research alternatives to traditional toothpaste. I've now switched from traditional and purchased toothpaste "tablets" that are packaged in a glass jar. I aim to share this with family and friends because 1) it's an interesting concept, 2) these are great for travel, and 3) the more people who use their purchasing power for sustainable means, the better!!-
Lisset Avery 7/23/2019 6:53 AMI've tried many alternatives for toothpaste. Haven't tried the tablets yet. You know what I'll be trying next, right?
