REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Travel EatingWas this action easy or difficult to do? How did it change your travel experience?
Laura Meyers 7/15/2019 12:45 PMTraveling with my own snacks, cup, etc. is not hard. Takes a little planning but saves money in addition to being to being environmentally friendly -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Lather UpWhat are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?
Laura Meyers 7/11/2019 8:01 PMEconomic benefits: lower cost overall. Frustrating to have to order on-line. Few if any local options. Also ordering on-line means packaging is involved.-
Laura Meyers 7/19/2019 1:35 PMThank-you for the suggestions -
Krystina Jarvis 7/11/2019 9:13 PMIf you order from small businesses, especially dedicated zero waste or plastic free shops, the online packaging is often plastic free. For example, my shop (A Drop in the Ocean, the in-kind sponsor for this challenge) ships orders in reused boxes, with reused packing paper only when necessary, paper tape, and a recycled label. We also encourage customers to reuse the packaging or pass it along to someone who can, keeping the process as zero waste as possible. We also plant ten trees for every purchase, so we're also offsetting the carbon footprint of shipping. If you avoid companies like Amazon, there are definitely ways to order online with less packaging!

Laura Meyers 7/10/2019 2:09 PMI joined the challenge to make myself accountable and to challenge myself. It however is a little frustrating not being able to count using my own straw and cup everyday for points since I have been doing that since before last year’s challenge. 😁-
Anna Towns 7/16/2019 8:30 PMIf you mark “I do this already” you do get some points, though...
