REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Volunteer in my CommunityHow does volunteering enhance your community and/or change your relationship with it?
Amy Meyer 7/21/2019 9:54 PMI have a better connection with the people and the environment in my community when I volunteer regularly for both environmental organizations and the local food bank. Giving my energy and time creates a personal accountability and a satisfaction for being part of a solution to some of the issues in my own community. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Minimize PackagingWith the added mindfulness of reducing your packaging, what have you noticed about the amount and type of single use plastics used for packaging when you shop in the grocery store?
Amy Meyer 7/16/2019 10:05 PMIt's everywhere! The most ridiculous amount of over packaging is in foods. Unfortunately I think it's going to get worse with the recent food licking craze! -

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Advocate For More Food Packaging OptionsSingle use plastics have become normalized in our society to the point that most people don't see them as a problem. What would you say to a friend, colleague, or family member who may not understand why these disposables are an issue?
Amy Meyer 7/12/2019 10:28 PMI start by asking them what they do with all the plastic? I used to marvel at how the grocery bags "multiplied " like bunnies... i encourage folks to reuse as much as possible, but I also have given permanent bags to family and friends and asked them to use those instead. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Estimate Your Plastic Consumption and Go #PlasticNeutralWhat did you find out about your plastic consumption by using the calculator? What did or didn't surprise you?
Amy Meyer 7/12/2019 10:21 PMI do pretty well on limiting obvious, single use plastic these dsys, but didn't score well on using plastic for longer use items like my running shirts made out of poly fiber! Never thought about them as plastic! -
Amy Meyer 7/10/2019 1:37 PMI was challenged by my "zooie" daughter, she knows I already care deeply about our natural world, and I would jump at the chance to do more! -
Amy Meyer 7/07/2019 10:47 PMDid double duty volunteering today... monitoring shorebird nesting sites and cleaned up trash off the beach while i was there. Helped to educate a family about why protecting the nesting sites is important too! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Travel SmartHow can/did you prepare to be successful in this action? Did you engage in conversation with anyone about your new habit?
Amy Meyer 7/05/2019 5:45 PMI'm taking refillables and reusables EVERYWHERE, and making a point to tell the folks I'm with why. I noticed one friend did the same the day after I told her about mine :)
