Gail Melanson 7/28/2019 7:01 PMHey quilters out there. I found out that you can compost fabric scraps and thread, as long as they are 100% cotton. It's considered a "brown" or carbon based material. -

Gail Melanson 7/14/2019 6:22 PMWas very careful this morning and managed to have a plastic free restaurant breakfast because the waiter brought the milk for my coffee in a small metal pitcher, thus avoiding those creamer thingies. -
Gail Melanson 7/13/2019 8:23 PMYou have to be so vigilant in restaurants! We told them not to bring straws and the waitress replied that they now only give straws on request. Great, I thought! But then, I decided to get just tomato, instead of the lettuce and tomato garnish I usually get and for some reason they put it in a little plastic cup, instead of just throwing it on the plate as they always do. Ugh! -
Gail Melanson 7/13/2019 8:12 AMFinally found a bamboo toothbrush that came in recyclable and compostable packaging. It's the Humble Brush, designed in Sweden. $5 at Target. -
Gail Melanson 7/11/2019 6:59 AMI love cheese and have been trying to find parmesan but its always wrapped in plastic or in a plastic container of some kind. Finally, I found a huge wheel of it at Keller's. They chopped off a chunk and wrapped it in paper and I grated it myself!
