Hey quilters out there. I found out that you can compost fabric scraps and thread, as long as they are 100% cotton.  It's considered a "brown" or carbon based  material.

Was very careful this morning and managed to have a plastic free restaurant breakfast because the waiter brought the milk for my coffee in a small metal  pitcher, thus avoiding those creamer thingies.

You have to be so vigilant in restaurants!  We told them not to bring straws and the waitress replied that they now only give straws on request.  Great, I thought!   But then, I decided to get just tomato, instead of the lettuce and tomato garnish I usually get and for some reason they put it in a little plastic cup, instead of just throwing it on the plate  as they always do.  Ugh!

Finally found a bamboo toothbrush that came in recyclable and compostable packaging.  It's the Humble Brush, designed in Sweden.  $5 at Target.

I love cheese and have been trying to find parmesan but its always wrapped in plastic or in a plastic container of some kind.  Finally, I found a huge wheel of it at Keller's.  They chopped off a chunk and wrapped it in paper and I grated it myself!
