REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Watch a DocumentaryWhich documentary did you choose to watch? What did you learn?
Kathy McConnell 7/31/2019 1:24 PMI chose to watch "A Plastic Wave". Like other documentaries, it focused on single-use plastics and the impact on our environment. It was heartbreaking and eye-opening to see the effects on marine life. 30 million tons of plastic and counting reaching our world's oceans. The film and this challenge has definitely made me more mindful. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable BagsHow difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?
Kathy McConnell 7/11/2019 4:23 PMThis challenge hasn't been too difficult. I have gotten into the habit of using re-usable bags each time I visit the store. I think the fact that it takes so little effort to buy and use the re-usable bags has made it a pretty easy transition. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Estimate Your Plastic Consumption and Go #PlasticNeutralWhat did you find out about your plastic consumption by using the calculator? What did or didn't surprise you?
Kathy McConnell 7/11/2019 4:21 PMI was really surprised at how much I can improve on reducing my plastic consumption. According to the website, the average person consumes 231 pounds per year. I was a little less than half that at 105 pounds per year. I've done well with reducing/eliminating single use plastics, but found that bath/body products account for much of my total. I do recycle all of my shampoo, body wash, etc. bottles but looks like I need to do much better! -
