Laurie Marsden-ellis 7/25/2019 4:26 AMI was picking up chips and salsa from a local Mexican restaurant. I called ahead to ask about their takeout containers. Since they were styrofoam and plastic, they agreed to let me bring my own containers. I brought a serving platter with a glass lidded bowl and was able to head to the party, ready to serve! -
Laurie Marsden-ellis 7/12/2019 8:16 AMI’ve put a container of metal silverware at work, inviting people to join the NEAQ in the plastic challenge. This has increased the conversations about single use plastic tremendously! I’ve noticed that some people are still using plastic silverware. I’ve ordered some bamboo sets online to give as gifts to these people. Hoping for a conversion 🤞🤞 -

Laurie Marsden-ellis 7/08/2019 4:28 AMThings are getting easier as remembering to defuse plastic and straws becomes more of a habit -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Takeout ProHow could you mitigate issues that may arise if the restaurant does not want to let you use your own containers at first?
Laurie Marsden-ellis 7/08/2019 4:26 AMI’ve got to start keeping containers in my car so they are there when I need them. It’s easier to have them there then to remember for every situation ! I have started conversations with waitstaff about better leftover container choices. When sustainable choices are offered, I always speak to the management and praise the choices they are making since they often cost more money -
Laurie Marsden-ellis 7/03/2019 2:06 PMGoing to the grocery store is a challenge! There is so much produce that is wrapped in plastic! It is not always feasible to find a farmers market or get to a grocery store location that offers less packaging. I need to plan ahead more. Working on it!! -
