REFLECTION QUESTIONFamily Natural PaintsHow do environmental health, community health, and your family's health intersect?
Chip Marino 7/17/2019 11:29 AMIf you're looking after your families health, which we all do naturally, you have to consider the greater community and advocate for large scale changes that will ultimately trickle down to individuals. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFamily Swap the SnacksHow does swapping out prepackaged snacks for fresh fruit or veggies benefit your family?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONFamily Discover TogetherWhat concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.
Chip Marino 7/16/2019 11:52 AMMy biggest concern is air pollution and elected officials lack of action in general. Hopefully people running for office will make these issues a major priority and people will vote with the planet in mind. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Travel EatingWas this action easy or difficult to do? How did it change your travel experience?
Chip Marino 7/16/2019 11:41 AMGreat for the planet and the budget. If you have little kids, they prefer snacks that they are used to from home anyways. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Estimate Your Plastic Consumption and Go #PlasticNeutralWhat did you find out about your plastic consumption by using the calculator? What did or didn't surprise you?
Chip Marino 7/15/2019 2:02 PMWe use a lot of plastics in our daily lives that we don't even think about. The calculator was helpful for reflecting on those less obvious plastics and considering ways to reduce. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Just Say NoDo some research on polystyrene and polyvinyl. How many items in your house already contain these toxins?
Chip Marino 7/12/2019 3:05 PMThere may be a few. I will need to clear out any remaining styrofoam and pvc pipes. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care That Was a Close ShaveWhat have you noticed about the economic and social impact of switching to steel razors? Was there ever really a need for disposable razors, or do you think it was just a way to sell more things?
Chip Marino 7/12/2019 3:04 PMIt was marketing geared toward our current "just throw it away" culture. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Buy Unpackaged ProduceWhy do you think these produce products started amassing so much plastic packaging? Who is the plastic packaging really serving -- the consumer, the producer, or someone else?
Chip Marino 7/10/2019 12:13 PMPeople are afraid of food. If it's not individually wrapped in plastic, then it's not safe. We can change this culture by educating the public about the food chain--from farm to table processes. Then we can make truly informed decisions and vote with our dollar. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable Water BottlesUsing the links provided, investigate the bottling practices of water corporations. There have been many cases where the water rights of the local people have been violated or even completely disregarded when a corporation decides to bottle water from a particular water source. How can you advocate for those who have been harmed by this bottling process?
