Hello. Ordered a new phone case and my daughter pointed me to this website to buy eco-friendly cases. After buying - I got a coupon code for refering a friend, so they can get $10 off: http://pelacase.refr.cc/christynl

I don't think there is a limit on how many people can use the link and the cases are fabulous!

I have noticed some people arguing that using fewer straws doesn't make much of a difference, but so what - isn't something better than nothing? Why are people so quick to turn a positive into a negative - does negating the potential positive impact make it easier for them to just stop trying? It makes me sad, but we carry on and when my kids see me trying, they do too and that makes me hopeful!

Change is hard, and humans don't like change. Keep inspiring.

You can also spread the word to doubters that straws are not only NOT recyclable, they actually make recycling of other plastics harder because they jam up the machinery! Same goes for plastic utensils!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Buy Unpackaged Produce
Why do you think these produce products started amassing so much plastic packaging? Who is the plastic packaging really serving -- the consumer, the producer, or someone else?

Convenience became important in the 80s and packaging became glossy and groceries stores grew in popularity over mom & pop stores. As we got further away from buying our food fresh, people seemed to think that it was more sanitary if fewer hands touched our food. But plastic packaging is only making it easier for consumers to charge more for less or poor quality, as it is hard to tell quality behind the packaging. Buying local and fresh is usually the best way to go.

    Personal Care Lather Up
What are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?

Every time I make a decision that will reduce my negative impact on the environment, I know that I am helping myself and my children. My family loves to travel and I want them to have a long life of seeing all the beautiful sites the world has to offer. The continued destruction of nature by filling it with plastic, which leads to the death of animals by destroying their natural habitats, will be a huge loss for my children and all future generations. Every positive action can help and we must all make a change to make a difference.
