It's Friday and a lot of people choose this night to head on out to various eateries. Make sure to pick places that work to be eco-friendly. If not try educating them about the various ways they can help, such as using the drop the straw campaign.

    Ideas for the week:
-For all of your summer parties try and purchase plastic free reusable items. Eliminate plastic water bottles with infused water in a pretty glass jar, instead of plastic plates use bamboo plates that you can easily wash and reuse again. Plus, these two items will make a party look summery and clean.

Easy summer treats to enjoy with less use of plastic:
    1. Wooden Utensils for a picnic instead of plastic
    2. Cloth bags for all your favorite munchies
    3. Reusable Bags to hold all your food instead of plastic bags
    4. Mason jars instead of plastic for parfaits, puddings, fruit, salad and more

The list could go on and on :)

Do an inventory of your kitchen to see how many single-use plastics you've used in the past. What are some resuable alternatives to these commonly used products? What would your impact be if you switched all the single-use products from your inventory to reusable?

    Reusable Alternatives:
Containers of various sizes- instead of baggies
Reusable Water Bottles- instead of plastic bottles (saves money too!)
Reusable Straws or No Straws- instead of plastic straws
Wooden Ice Cream Spoons- instead of plastic spoons

The impact would be helpful if we switched to all single-use products as it would help to eliminate unnecessary plastic use and save us money.

Now that we are in the heart of summer...make sure that when you are packing up to go to the beach or park substitute your Dunkin with a reusable mug filled with coffee you can make at home. Not only are you helping to reduce plastic but you are saving money too!

This challenge is perfect for all the beauty goers out there too. If you love makeup this is a great challenge to see which brands use the least plastic in their packaging. Doing some research or visiting your favorite beauty counters with questions is a great way to start. Make sure to ask which products work to help the environment and use the least plastic. Also, there are so many products now that are vegan too adding in another benefit.
