Last night, while out at a restaurant, I had my son run out to the car and grab tubberware from his lunchbox to use for our leftover guacamole. It was the perfect size container, and I was so happy to not have to ask for a plastic to-go one. Phew!!

Any recommendations to consider for me and the kiddos? Besides "Story of Stuff?"

I love leftovers, but this challenges has made me consider if I forgot my own container, do I really need to take home the tiny bit of leftovers.

I didn't get to travel, but my kids did. Sent them off the camp with refilled containers, and reuasable bags. The camp they attended composts leftover food, so they came home asking about that as well. Yahoo!

Our annual 4th of the July celebration was the most plastic free yet! Really proud of my friends who committed to decreased plastics at the event. Bonus points for the compost we collected. Not sure if the neighborhood is ready to let go of the water balloon fight, but I was proud of the kids who worked hard to pick up as many pieces as possible.

Slight speed bump last night when I avoided all plastic take home containers, but forgot that the pizza place on had plastic forks to eat with.

How could you mitigate issues that may arise if the restaurant does not want to let you use your own containers at first?

So far, I think this will force me to pack my lunch which allows me to limit the need for to-go containers. Or - Maybe I don't take leftovers? Also - Have the containers in my car will be helpful. That way they are staring at me when I go out to eat.

I've totally shopped for collapsible containers too... I'm usually pretty good at bringing containers but having even smaller, collapsible ones feel like they might do the trick. Maybe???
