  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Buy Unpackaged Produce
Why do you think these produce products started amassing so much plastic packaging? Who is the plastic packaging really serving -- the consumer, the producer, or someone else?

I'm pretty sure the plastic isn't helping the consumer, there are other ways to package food.  This is hard to give up because a lot of the produce I purchase is in a plastic container. I do try to purchase items without a plastic container when they are available and I won't put single items in a plastic bag, I just stick them all in my reusable bag.

Great job on getting rid of your disposable cup habit! How does it make you feel? What's next on your list to reduce your waste?

It was easier than I expected to give up my disposable cup, I just make an effort to make sure I have my reusable cups available.

My challenge is going well.  I'm making a real effort to use my reusable water cup every time I leave the house.  My biggest fail is remembering to check in and mark off what I've done.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Use Reusable Bags
How difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?

This is an easy challenge - I always keep reusable bags in my car and now I keep one on the front seat, so I can remember to grab it (or more from the back) any time I run into a store.

Have you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.

I have noticed at some of the restaurants we frequent, that you now need to ask for a straw instead of being given one automatically - I think that's great!  My whole family goes without a straw now and they don't miss it one bit!
