REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Skip the StrawHave you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.
Lina Kritchko 7/17/2019 2:13 PMAbsolutely. Weirdly enough, skipping the straw has become "trendy". Lots of my classmates proudly tote around their reusable straws on their lanyard and flip them out loudly whenever they take a drink because "you gotta save the turtles, y'know". While it's a weird reason to do it, it's still good that they're making that change. I've also noticed that many people in my community take larger steps after researching about reusable straws. They use more totebags when grocery shopping, bring reusable cups, buy less single use packaging. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFamily Swap the SnacksHow does swapping out prepackaged snacks for fresh fruit or veggies benefit your family?
Lina Kritchko 7/17/2019 2:10 PMIt's more affordable to buy in bulk! You can also pack only as much as you want to not be hungry. Oftentimes, pre-packaged food portions are too small so you buy more to eat multiple to feel full. If you buy in bulk and pack it yourself, you know how much you'll eat, reducing food waste!
