A few days ago I pulled the paper bag that I was using in my trash can out to take it out to the garbage can. The bottom was wet and so fell out and the trash spilled all over my kitchen floor. #plasticfreestruggles!

The competition has been a great way to have a constant reminder about making concious choices about plastic use! ie "I can't buy that, it's plastic free July!"
With the impending Hurricane Barry about to rein down on us in New Orleans, I hope folks are thinking about alternatives to buying cases of bottled water!

How can you think outside the box (or bag!) when it comes to disposables?

Mom taught me to reused the plastic bags that bread comes in. Just shake the crumbs out and you can keep using them over and over again for snacks and anything else that is conveniently bagged!

Does changing the lining of your waste bin change the kind or amount of trash you produce?

Not so far! Using paper means it's a smaller bag so maybe it will help me be more conscious of the waste I am creating since I have less bag to fill.
