James Hurley 7/06/2019 5:50 AMMy Plastics Free July is going great! As someone that has always been passionate about conservation, avoiding plastics comes naturally to me. Still, there are always new things to learn, new challenges to face head-on, and methods at plastics reduction to be shared. For example, did you know that if you bring four articles of used clothing to H&M, they'll give you a fifteen percent discount? Any four items, from anywhere, in any condition. They'll either recycle them when possible, or dispose of them in an eco-friendly manner. Lush does something similar; bring four empty bottles, and they'll give you a fifteen percent discount. Plus, you can even reuse previously purchased containers, or any container brought from home, to refill and restock your purchases! These things may seem small, but with approaching eight billion people on Earth, it adds up. Not to mention, these ideas are mutually beneficial; you get something in exchange! Nothing wrong with that! Moreover, while I feel compelled to do my part because of an innate sense of stewardship toward the planet that I've felt since I was young, this is a kind of corporate stewardship encourages people at large to do their part, and can be quite useful.
