REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable ContainersHow can you think outside the box (or bag!) when it comes to disposables?
Bella Halley 7/30/2019 8:46 AMThinking outside of the bag? Just don't use it :) Use a cloth or other reusable bag. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Takeout ProHow could you mitigate issues that may arise if the restaurant does not want to let you use your own containers at first?
Bella Halley 7/30/2019 8:42 AMTo mitigate issues arising from restaurants not letting you use your own container by telling them about how it is helping the environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable UtensilsHow can you be an advocate for using resusables instead of disposables for the rest of your community? Where are they currently dependent on disposable cutlery, and how can you convince them of the need for change?
Bella Halley 7/30/2019 8:39 AMMost one time use plastic utensils are used in fast food restaurants. I can advocate to food joints to use eco-friendly compostable cutlery in place of the plastic ones they use now. Also, I can ask any other restaurants to switch to metal, reusable utensils. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Cook a Zero-Plastic Waste MealDo an inventory of your kitchen to see how many single-use plastics you've used in the past. What are some resuable alternatives to these commonly used products? What would your impact be if you switched all the single-use products from your inventory to reusable?
Bella Halley 7/30/2019 8:35 AMInstead of using one time use paper plates, we could use porcelain or china plates and just wash them after use. Plastic utensils could be replaced by metal utensils. Switching would reduce unnecessary waste. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Skip the StrawHave you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.
Bella Halley 7/22/2019 10:03 AMBy eliminating plastic straws, we are eliminating the amount of plastic wasted or stuck in the environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Brusha Brusha BrushaWhat are the benefits of switching to bamboo toothbrushes? How would you implore others in your community to make this switch as well?
Bella Halley 7/22/2019 9:59 AMSwitching to a bamboo toothbrush is beneficial because it is biodegradable. When its time to switch from an old toothbrush to a new toothbrush, you can place it in the compost.
