What are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?

I have a shampoo bar and hand/body soap bars and they last much longer than a liquid alternative. In time, this will save money. They don't come in packaging and if they do, they come in a cardboard box that is recyclable. There is no plastic waste with packaging.
