I will make my environmental actions visible by posting to my social media networks.
Lifestyle
Travel Eating
If traveling, I will bring my own airplane snacks and eat at local restaurants to avoid take-out containers.
Lifestyle
Travel Toiletries
If traveling, I will reuse my old travel tubes to refill with my soaps or only bring bar soaps with me in a TSA approved reusable quart sized bag.
Community
Join a Cleanup Effort
I will host or participate in a beach, highway, river, or other cleanup effort in my community.

That Was a Close Shave

Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases, including produce bags.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Start CompostingDo an inventory of how much food waste you would save from going to the landfill if you start composting all of the time. What are the added benefits of having compost that is readily accessible?
Lauren Guzman 7/11/2019 7:02 AMI feel better knowing that my food waste that ends up in compost is going to be used for the Zoo's garden -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Travel SmartHow can/did you prepare to be successful in this action? Did you engage in conversation with anyone about your new habit?
Lauren Guzman 7/09/2019 10:37 AMI filled my old bottles up with new product. I urged my boyfriend to do the same for our vacation, and he did! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable BagsHow difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?
Lauren Guzman 7/09/2019 10:36 AMBuying produce without plastic has been easy because I just go to the local farmers market, so they don't typically wrap anything in plastic anyway. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Skip the StrawHave you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.
Lauren Guzman 7/09/2019 10:35 AMthis was at a bar in Austin. I've noticed a ton of bars (fancier ones) down there will not give you a straw unless you ask for it...and they're paper straws too! -
Lauren Guzman 6/30/2019 6:12 AMI'm going to Austin, TX, for the first week of July and I am already packing my reusable products with me! Containers to use for meal leftovers (since I never finish a meal), reusable shopping bags, reusable cutlery, metal straws, reusable water bottle and coffee mug, Bamboo toothbrush, to name a few...
I even refilled my shampoo and conditioner into the TSA-approved bottles instead of buying new ones.-
Laura Newman 6/30/2019 10:47 AMGet it, girl! Travel safely!
