Kevin Graham
"Our irresponsible plastic consumption is a disaster that is catching up to us, threatening lives and the planet with the immense impact of a slow-triggered nuclear bomb. While we guzzle down refreshing bottled drinks, sip on to go coffee and smoothies, or dig in to delicious takeaway food, we are unaware of the environmental, societal, health and economic costs of it all – that is already happening now and will continue in generations to come."

Kevin Graham 7/31/2019 10:20 PMIt’s over for the official challenge, now continuing until next July. -
Kevin Graham 7/31/2019 3:49 AMFinal day, made it all the way through without missing a checkin.
-
Kevin Graham 7/30/2019 10:17 AMLast day tomorrow, everyone making their final push to finish out your action items and rack up the point to keep us in firmly in 11th place? Remember, you can go back up the three days to fill in any daily action items that you might have missed. -
Kevin Graham 7/29/2019 9:16 AMHard to believe it’s just a bit over 48 hours until the challenge has completed. And, looking at the numbers, it looks like our zoo is going to finish in about 11th place. Not too shabby with just under 800 teams participating. -
Kevin Graham 7/28/2019 3:16 PMAnother day at work, another 3000 or so pieces of trash picked up during the course of the day. OK, maybe a slight exaggeration but it sure feels like that much. -
Kevin Graham 7/27/2019 5:38 AMSeems like the challenge just started for this year and now there's only four more days left until it's finished. Of course, hopefully for all >15,000 people participating everything being focused on continues for well past the end of July. -
Kevin Graham 7/26/2019 7:36 AMHeard back from Amazon on one of my many messages to them about the wasted number of air pillows that they use when shipping items that are essentially indestructible (in this case it was two types of solid metal hardware). Unfortunately it was nothing more than a canned response of they'll look into improvements for the future. In other words, they plan on changing nothing with their waste. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPets DIY Cat LitterOther species can teach us important lessons about ourselves and life in general. What has your cat taught you?
Kevin Graham 7/25/2019 2:23 PMBesides arrogance, narcissistic behavior, disinterest, favoritism, and other lovely cat qualities those that have shared my house over the years haven't been much for teaching... -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPets Pet WasteBy composting your pet waste, you are turning waste into nutrients to feed the soil. In what other ways can you turn waste into a resource in your life?
Kevin Graham 7/25/2019 2:21 PMReusing items when packaging can't be eliminated entirely, and then recycling when that products' packaging has reached the end of its lifespan. Eliminating items going into the landfill by any means necessary. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Estimate Your Plastic Consumption and Go #PlasticNeutralWhat did you find out about your plastic consumption by using the calculator? What did or didn't surprise you?
Kevin Graham 7/25/2019 2:19 PMThere's a tremendous amount of plastic in products that really don't need it and shouldn't have it. Whether it's consumer or business driven the amount of waste created could be cut by a significant margin by just getting rid of the unnecessary packaging.
