Create Your Own Action
Learning more
I have ordered the documentary "The True Cost" on Netflix and plan to watch it when I return from my vacation. I find that watching a documentary is a great way to learn more about what one can do to help our earth.
Lifestyle
Complete a Waste Audit
I will conduct a waste audit - including recyclables and compost - to understand how much waste I create and where I can reduce the most.
Food
Use Reusable Utensils
I will keep 03 plastic cutlery out of the landfill per day by using my own reusable cutlery.
Food
Takeout Pro
I will use my own containers when ordering takeout.
Lifestyle
Natural Fibers
When available, I will purchase clothing made with natural fibers, such as cotton, linen, or wool, rather than synthetic fibers.
Food
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases, including produce bags.
Lifestyle
Watch a Documentary
I will watch a documentary film about waste with family and friends and talk about what we learned.
Community
Join a Cleanup Effort
I will host or participate in a beach, highway, river, or other cleanup effort in my community.
Lifestyle
Travel Toiletries
If traveling, I will reuse my old travel tubes to refill with my soaps or only bring bar soaps with me in a TSA approved reusable quart sized bag.
Lifestyle
Travel Eating
If traveling, I will bring my own airplane snacks and eat at local restaurants to avoid take-out containers.
Lifestyle
Travel Smart
If traveling, I will bring my own plastic free items (water bottle, grocery bags, collapsible food containers, utensils, straws, etc.) with me.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

Christina Gonzalez 7/31/2019 6:10 AMJust watched a video for Oceana regarding their efforts to spread the use of T.E.D.'s across the world's oceans in order to save more sea turtle lives....made a small donation to help them. -
Christina Gonzalez 7/31/2019 6:09 AMContinue picking up trash when I see it, especially at the BioPark. -
Christina Gonzalez 7/29/2019 5:54 AMRecycled two more 33 gallon bags of plastic water bottles and aluminum cans. The gym I attend saved a stuffed bag for me to recycle during my vacation. Why someone who works there didn't just put it in their curbside recycling bin (like I do) heaven only knows! -
Christina Gonzalez 7/27/2019 5:40 AMJust received my reuseable produce bags! Looking forward to using them instead of the individual plastic bags. -
Christina Gonzalez 7/22/2019 6:49 AMRecycled another 33 gal trash bag full of plastic bottles & aluminum cans for my health club! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Watch a DocumentaryWhich documentary did you choose to watch? What did you learn?
Christina Gonzalez 7/21/2019 7:37 AMI watched both, Minimalism and True Cost and posted my thoughts on both. -
Christina Gonzalez 7/19/2019 8:49 PMJust watched the documentary, The True Cost. This is about the fashion industry and its impact on the earth and on all the garment workers and farmers. Although I thought I knew about this industry I learned a lot more. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable BagsHow difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?
Christina Gonzalez 7/19/2019 6:12 PMI usually reuse the plastic produce bags for various things, so not having any will be interesting. I just purchased some reuseable produce bags from 3bbags (made in America!) Looking forward to using them.-
Hilda Arellano 7/19/2019 6:21 PMDifficult? Talking with the peolpe
Easy? Living with reusable bags and bottles

Christina Gonzalez 7/09/2019 6:28 AMI have "rescued" more plastic from the trash cycle. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Travel ToiletriesWhat is the benefit of using bar soaps or refilling your travel sized containers? Is this an action you think you will keep in your life?
Christina Gonzalez 7/09/2019 6:27 AMI hope that by refilling travel sized containers, less of them will be made which in turn means less plastic being used. I will continue to do this.
