REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Travel SmartHow can/did you prepare to be successful in this action? Did you engage in conversation with anyone about your new habit?
Amanda Fugle 7/31/2019 12:21 PMPlan ahead! It helps to plan your travel needs in advance, this way if there is something missing you can make/buy it instead of last minute packing and tossing in the usual one-time-use items.-
Bernard Kohrs 7/31/2019 12:37 PMI agree Amanda, I used to grab the laundry bag in hotels when traveling to collect dirty clothes. I now when I arrive home put a clean cloth bag in my suitcase before putting it into storage so that I dont have to pickup that bag from the hotel

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Plant a GardenBesides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?
Amanda Fugle 7/30/2019 8:21 AMIt will be very convenient having some herbs and strawberries without having to go out and buy them, plus I know what has and has not been sprayed on them. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Shop the Bulk BinsHow has buying bulk impacted the quality of the food you receive? Why do you think Western society relies more on prepackaged foods rather than buying in bulk?
Amanda Fugle 7/30/2019 8:18 AMi think the biggest part of why people buy prepackaged is convenience. It's faster, you don't have to carry around containers and it's already portioned. Bulk also likely runs greater risk of contamination since anyone can put their hands all over the food (I have witnessed people using their hands to scoop!). I haven't noticed any difference in quality, but I do like that i can choose exactly how much i want and don't have the excess waste prepackaged has. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Cook a Zero-Plastic Waste MealDo an inventory of your kitchen to see how many single-use plastics you've used in the past. What are some resuable alternatives to these commonly used products? What would your impact be if you switched all the single-use products from your inventory to reusable?
Amanda Fugle 7/30/2019 8:13 AMWe have cut back a lot in recent years already. We have purchased glass/steel/silicone straws (yes, some of each!), beeswax wraps and some silicone "ziplock type" bags. These are all great: easy to clean, and can be used for a very long time! Just need to buy some larger re-usable bowl covers and we should have no single use plastic in our kitchen! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPets Invest in a Pooper-ScooperHow are caring for your pet and caring for the environment connected for you?
Amanda Fugle 7/16/2019 8:20 AMAll animals deserve a healthy planet to live on. That includes pets and those in the wild. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFamily Swap the SnacksHow does swapping out prepackaged snacks for fresh fruit or veggies benefit your family?
Amanda Fugle 7/08/2019 2:35 PMWe are eating much healthier by cutting out the prepackaged snack items!
