I will avoid buying toxic plastics, including polycarbonate, polystyrene and polyvinyl.

I will purchase refillable beauty products.

Thoughtful Toys
I will only buy cloth, wooden or plant-based natural rubber toys. Or make our own toys from recycled items found in our home!
Food
Cook a Zero-Plastic Waste Meal
I will prepare 1 meal(s) at home each day without using any items packaged in single-use plastic.
Food
Make Your Own
I will try new recipe(s) or food preparation method(s) each day, such as canning, pickling, making yogurt, or baking granola bars or bread.

Caryn Fosnaugh 7/29/2019 11:58 AMWere there any changes that now seem second-nature? Any that you're still feeling challenged by?
The easiest for me is making sure to have reusable dishes/drinkware all the time. The hardest has been candy. I'm a sucker for it and each time I cringe at the wrapper, which has encouraged eating less, though not sure I could do without... :) -

Caryn Fosnaugh 7/22/2019 11:06 AMDid you hear about the new "Trump" reusable straws being used for rallies? -
Caryn Fosnaugh 7/11/2019 11:53 AMFellow pet owners - what resources have you found for plastic/nontoxic toys? We've made stuffed toys out of fabric scraps (fleece works well for tug toys). Also, any good treat recipes you've found? -
Caryn Fosnaugh 7/10/2019 12:40 PMWhen seeking opportunities to go plastic free, we found that stripping away all the extra and focusing on the raw source helped us discover ways to avoid plastics in the first place. Until around World War II, the world of single-use plastic simply didn't exist, so by learning about how our elders made and stored their food and other goods, we eliminated the idea that we even need as much plastic as manufacturers claim...What questions would you ask to learn more about "life before plastic"?
