REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Keep My Community CleanHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Brodie Foley 7/11/2019 7:50 PMHelps you care more about your community - can be frustrating seeing new litter in your neighborhood everyday, why do people have to litter? You can teach others to help clean it up as well or some will do just by watching you. You don’t have to be street sweeper to clean up your environment. You don’t have to be paid to care about your community. -
Brodie Foley 7/11/2019 7:29 PMDay 10 & 11: Still getting the hang of it, can do the bare minimum like reusable straw, water bottle, thermos, bags. Not quite the takeout master, yet.. but the plastic container I received today (11th) I will be reusing it and keeping it in my car with my reusable bags for just in case moments like today - it’s a pretty cute takeout container.. -
Brodie Foley 7/09/2019 4:28 PMDay 9: Did not do so well! Totally forgot to eat today and ended up buying whatever Walgreens has since I was there - 1 big bag of salt and vinegar chips and a snickers bar. I had a “You're not you when you're hungry” moment and that made me buy products wrapped in plastic. Besides that I did ok. I need to be educated on the best inexpensive products in any store that have the least bit of single use plastic. -
Brodie Foley 7/08/2019 10:52 PMDay 6-8: Still keeping it going. Only buying things I need with the LEAST amount of packaging. Haven’t shopped for groceries in bulk yet but looking forward to it. Always on Pinterest/instagram/Facebook groups for more inspiration on how to be plastic/waste free. Thinking about making my own shampoo bars (looks pretty easy)! -
Brodie Foley 7/06/2019 9:37 AMDay 5: Easy day to accomplish used my reusable water bottle at work and when eating gelato I used a silver spoon versus a plastic one. -
Brodie Foley 7/04/2019 7:15 PMDay 4: I did pretty good! Always using my reusable water bottle. Went to Moe’s for dinner, brought my own reusable container for my leftovers! It took 2 seconds to grab it on the way out of my house - no effort needed. Happy to not ask for a wasteful container for leftovers. -
Brodie Foley 7/04/2019 7:12 PMDay 3: Disney’s animal kingdom field trip - I was crying inside the whole time. It was a very hot day. I needed a cup of ice (plastic cup). Then, bought a coke slushy (plastic cup) and dole whip (more plastic). Many things were “recyclable” but it seemed doubtful. -
Brodie Foley 7/04/2019 7:08 PMDay 2: It as a super easy day to be plastic free - besides my work being full of plastic (food service)! I brought my reusable water bottle and coffee mug to work and didn’t consume anything contained with single use plastic. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Pretty oh so PrettyHow can you advocate for the importance of reducing packaging to the rest of your friends, family and larger community?
Brodie Foley 7/04/2019 7:04 PMCost is the hardest thing to convince people, some products are cost effective and some can burn a hole in your wallet. Educating them on what brands are inexpensive and good for the environment/how to make certain items at home! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Natural FibersWhat are the benefits (to people, animals, and the environment) of purchasing clothes made with natural fibers?
Brodie Foley 7/04/2019 7:00 PMQuality fibers- lasts longer, less clothes to throw out.It breaks down quicker once in the environment.
