Erin's actions
Pets
All Natural Pet Toys
I will give my pets natural alternatives to toys like femur bones and antlers, canvas, natural rubber, hemp, rope or cotton toys. Or I will make our own toys from recycled items found in our home!
Pets
Try a Pet Shampoo Bar
I will replace my pet's shampoo with an eco-friendly shampoo bar.
Pets
Invest in a Pooper-Scooper
I will swap out my single use plastic bags for a pooper-scooper.
Personal Care
Fresh as a Daisy
I will use deodorant either from a bar or a jar or I will make my own.
Personal Care
Lather Up
I will replace my soaps, shampoos, and conditions with either a bar or refillable option.
Personal Care
That Was a Close Shave
I will replace my disposable razors with steel razors. Why not try using hair conditioner instead of shaving foam for that baby smooth feel?
Food
Skip the Straw
I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill per day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Food
Use a Reusable Mug / Collapsible Cup
I will avoid sending 1 disposable cup(s) to the landfill per day by using a reusable mug or bringing my own collapsible cup.
Personal Care
Pretty oh so Pretty
I will purchase beauty products that are packaged in sustainable packaging.
Personal Care
Back in the Bowl
I will purchase refillable beauty products.
Food
Use Reusable Water Bottles
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 1 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Food
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases, including produce bags.
Food
Use Reusable Containers
I will only use reusable containers instead of single-use plastic storage items (such as plastic wrap, single-use sandwich bags).

REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care That Was a Close ShaveWhat have you noticed about the economic and social impact of switching to steel razors? Was there ever really a need for disposable razors, or do you think it was just a way to sell more things?
Erin Feeney 7/31/2019 12:31 PMI would have said yesterday there really wasn't a difference and it was just a convenience product because we as a society are lazier, but I slipped for the first time yesterday with my safety razor and peeled off a bunch of skin on my shin, so the appeal of disposable ones is creeping back in. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use a Reusable Mug / Collapsible CupGreat job on getting rid of your disposable cup habit! How does it make you feel? What's next on your list to reduce your waste?
Erin Feeney 7/31/2019 12:27 PMI still drink too many things that come in cans (soda, energy drinks etc) those are the next to go -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable BagsHow difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?
Erin Feeney 7/31/2019 12:26 PMThis was probably easiest, I bought bags that roll up super small to fit in my purse. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable ContainersHow can you think outside the box (or bag!) when it comes to disposables?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Skip the StrawHave you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.
Erin Feeney 7/31/2019 12:23 PMI have definitely found more restaurants having paper straws. There even was a bar while I was on vacation that used metal ones.
