Ken Fay 7/30/2019 8:51 AMVery, very long but interesting read. Well worth the time.

Ken Fay 7/27/2019 8:18 AMThis is now officially weird to me.
It looks like I was the only person on our team to post yesterday.
Hopefully I'm wrong and others will post today. -
Ken Fay 7/26/2019 8:45 AMBoy has this been an interesting week to say the least. I'd like to thank all my teammates for a job well done as we wind up this challenge. -
Ken Fay 7/22/2019 1:26 PMI was curious as to the origin of the phrase the straw that broke the camel's back and have to sheepishly admit I thought it referred to a drinking straw. -
Ken Fay 7/20/2019 11:54 AMWhat do Hawaii, California, Oregon, Iowa, Michigan, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont and Maine have in common?
They all have a bottle bill, but Iowa is considering updating theirs

Ken Fay 7/19/2019 10:21 PMI'm grabbing 5 points but I would like to know how many people who read this know what a " bottle bill" is.
I ask that because in our town in Alaska we have a plastic bag "law" coming up soon - if I understand the legalese.-

Ken Fay 7/18/2019 8:30 AMI'm somewhat torn. While I enjoy this challenge it often seems daunting. I've noticed that the "travel size" section of stores keeps expanding and that as a frugal person I love freebies (of just about anything), but those freebies are all single-use-ish and individually packaged with plastic. So I guess that's why it's called a challenge. -
Ken Fay 7/15/2019 6:44 PMLong but good read - originally posted on huffingtonpost.com, but I recommend Grist as a website that makes me go hmmmn.

Ken Fay 7/15/2019 12:26 AMI apologize for the back to back posts but I still have not figured out the timing of this challenge. As in what time zone rules? Is it the zone in which the participant resides, is it where the source/administrators of the challenge are? Is it variable as in every participant has their own zone or is it fixed? Any way I think this is 5 points. -
Ken Fay 7/15/2019 12:12 AMI don't know what to make of my behavior. I still have a pizza box from last July to reuse but I've purchased 16 packages of 36 individually wrapped string cheeses plus hundreds of burritos/frozen sandwiches that are individually wrapped since then. This seems to be a see the forest not the tree thing. Plus I really, really, really have to get a better diet!-
Teri Arnold 7/20/2019 10:10 AMHey Ken - you can buy string cheese in a "bulk" packaging - about 20 strings bundled together in a single plastic wrapping. Then, of course, you'll need some kind of storage container to put them all in like reusable rubbermaid.
