Natural Fibers
When available, I will purchase clothing made with natural fibers, such as cotton, linen, or wool, rather than synthetic fibers.

REFLECTION QUESTIONPets Pet WasteBy composting your pet waste, you are turning waste into nutrients to feed the soil. In what other ways can you turn waste into a resource in your life?
Kelsey Fairhurst 7/15/2019 6:33 AMBased on what I read, composting my pet's waste might not be feasible in my current situation, but I will definitely be more aware now. I feel like I can better use food waste with composting, since dog waste composting cannot be used with soil that will effect plants that people eat. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Buy Unpackaged ProduceWhy do you think these produce products started amassing so much plastic packaging? Who is the plastic packaging really serving -- the consumer, the producer, or someone else?
Kelsey Fairhurst 7/15/2019 6:30 AMAfter making a couple grocery store trips where I made sure to buy my produce without packaging or produce bags, it has made me realize how unnecessary they are in most cases. Especially for larger produce items, like apples, where it is just as easy to buy them un-bagged! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable BagsHow difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?
Kelsey Fairhurst 7/15/2019 6:27 AMI always hope that when I say no thank you to plastic bags that it will inspire the customers behind me in line to do the same thing (or at least make them think about it more) -
Kelsey Fairhurst 7/14/2019 6:19 AMAlmost halfway through--I have definitely made changes in my every day life that will stick after July is over! -
Kelsey Fairhurst 7/06/2019 12:49 PMBought my new bamboo toothbrush today--excited to buy more eco-friendly products! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Keep My Community CleanHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Kelsey Fairhurst 7/05/2019 6:26 AMHopefully by picking up more litter everyday, I can make a difference in my neighborhood :) -
Kelsey Fairhurst 7/04/2019 4:42 AMHappy Fourth of July! Trying to keep our celebrations as sustainable as possible! -
Kelsey Fairhurst 7/02/2019 12:33 PMDay two almost complete--looking forward to seeing how much plastic I can reduce for the rest of the month! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPets Homemade Pet Food/TreatsDoes making your own pet food seem like a habit you can keep up in the long term? What else can you do to reduce your use of plastic packaging that can come from taking care of your pet's needs?
Kelsey Fairhurst 7/02/2019 8:09 AMMade my dog some pumpkin treats--saved plastic and money (and she liked them more than her treats from the store)! Will definitely try to keep this up!
