Joshua F 7/05/2019 11:38 PMToday I really had to check myself on only buying what I need. I found a plant that I fell in love with and was ready to buy it when I remember I am challenging myself to only buy things for my "health and safety". Not that I won't buy a plant again in the future, but I feel I have gained a little more control over my habits. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Share My ActionsIn what ways is social media an effective tool for sharing your values?
Joshua F 7/03/2019 8:05 AMI had removed myself from social media for almost a year, but am back with a fresh take on what the platforms have to offer. Through the influence of this challenge, I am prepared to raise awareness for the problems we face as a global community and call for action amongst those in my life. This is OUR community, we all have had a part in creating it and only we can fix it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Natural FibersWhat are the benefits (to people, animals, and the environment) of purchasing clothes made with natural fibers?
Joshua F 7/01/2019 2:00 PMeeek eeek eeek!
All our clothes are made of this stuff, this is a big goal of mine. My challenge is vegan-friendly, non-polly fabrics. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Buy Only What I NeedAs you have reduced your spending, what have you noticed about your 'health and safety' purchasing habits? How might this change your longer term purchasing decisions?
Joshua F 7/01/2019 1:58 PMThis is something that I have to work on every day. We are bombarded with what is new, must have, and things that will make us "feel" good. But in the end all that stuff does not make you feel good, you end up feeling obsolete when the newest thing comes out and you "have to have it". 99% of the stuff we buy is thrown away within 6 months!
Asking myself "is this for my health or safety" each time I buy something new will help clarify my decision making. I also plan to buy things that will last longer even if the cost is higher.
The story of stuff is on here a few times but if haven't come across it yet, it's a great short documentary https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GorqroigqM -
Joshua F 6/30/2019 9:29 AMTomorrow is the day :) I am excited to see what we all learn, and what kind of changes we can make!
Talking with some of you, just signing up has already started some changes. Once you tune in your awareness to plastic, you realize how prevalent it is in our lives and you already start looking for ways to make changes.
Most of all about this event, I am excited to learn from each other. If there is anything you plan to do or have already done please share! Only together are we capable of creating A Better Tomorrow.
