How could you mitigate issues that may arise if the restaurant does not want to let you use your own containers at first?

I could speak with them about how much food is wasted in the world, the reason why my container is perfectly sanitary, or the plastic waste that is caused by the restaurant business. I typically don't ask, I simply put my food in the container before they notice I've done it. Ask forgiveness, not permission. Right?
