A great secondary benefit, while not directly related to zero plastic, is the reduction of fossil fuel needed to get your veg to you. No drive to the store to purchase and no truck fuel shipping it to your local grocery. A walk to the garden doesn't burn anything except a few calories.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Plant a GardenBesides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?
tami dyer 7/11/2019 2:15 PMI am becoming increasingly concerned with the unknown issues that can arise from genetically modified foods and whatever pesticides or chemical fertilizers that are added. When planting your own garden you know what you grow so you can feel more comfortable with what you are eating.
A great secondary benefit, while not directly related to zero plastic, is the reduction of fossil fuel needed to get your veg to you. No drive to the store to purchase and no truck fuel shipping it to your local grocery. A walk to the garden doesn't burn anything except a few calories. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Travel EatingWas this action easy or difficult to do? How did it change your travel experience?
tami dyer 7/04/2019 6:28 PMI have to travel 5 states over for work probably once a month. When traveling I always carry a reusable grocery bag in my backpack and go to the grocery store to buy meals. I have a dislike for most things vegetable so I buy what I like for salads and make my own. I store reusable containers in the office and make sure to get a hotel room with at least a minimal kitchen. I find I eat healthier than when dining out and there is less waste. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Fresh as a DaisyDo some research on the toxic side affects of aluminum deodorant. After reading the side effects, can you think of instances where you may have experienced the side effects from this form of deodorant?
tami dyer 7/02/2019 2:45 PMI have done research on the toxic side affects of aluminum deodorant. I have been concerned for years about the possibility of contributing to Alzheimer's disease. I have been unable to find a good alternative, but followed the Learn More link for a natural based, plastic free alternative. I'm really anxious to give it a try and see how it works. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Share My ActionsIn what ways is social media an effective tool for sharing your values?
tami dyer 7/01/2019 3:22 PMAlmost everyone is on social media now and sharing an invitation to this challenge can give people who already realize what we are facing a forum to join together and raise awareness to those who are less in the know. -
tami dyer 7/01/2019 2:39 PMI posted the link to join this challenge to my Facebook feed. I have a number of friends who are already very supportive of ecological issues and I am hoping to raise their awareness even further by getting them to join and have an impact.
