REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Keep My Community CleanHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Sabrina DiNella 7/30/2019 1:27 PMIt makes me realize we have to do something about all the cigarette butts around the cruise port areas. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Plant a GardenBesides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?
Sabrina DiNella 7/30/2019 1:27 PMIt is pretty! My parents just bought a house and we put in some great flowers to attract butterflies and other pollinators. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Cook a Zero-Plastic Waste MealDo an inventory of your kitchen to see how many single-use plastics you've used in the past. What are some resuable alternatives to these commonly used products? What would your impact be if you switched all the single-use products from your inventory to reusable?
Sabrina DiNella 7/30/2019 1:26 PMDeli meat is a big one, my family loves making sandwiches. I realized if I brought my own containers to the deli I didn't have to use the plastic bags. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Complete a Waste AuditWhat did you learn about the waste you create? Where can you reduce the most?
Sabrina DiNella 7/30/2019 1:25 PMI produce a lot of waste with my cats, between their food, litter and how I dispose of their litter it is a lot of plastic. I tried a new brand of litter that had less plastic and it wasn't the best. I will keep trying! -
Sabrina DiNella 7/14/2019 7:37 PMToday I was working with a teacher workshop and plastics in our watershed came up in conversation. It was a perfect plug to talk about this challenge with a wonderful group of influential people. -
Sabrina DiNella 7/11/2019 8:30 PMNeed some advice on new cat litter has anyone had any luck with non clay litter?-
Adele Philippides 7/12/2019 6:09 AM
Often it's the cat that decides, not the owner! If your cat rejects one, you might want to try another. We used swheat scoop (wheat based) for years successfully, but it seems that all the non-clay options are more expensive and after we had kids we tried cutting costs any way possible. Petsmart does have a cheap clay option with a refillable container (bulk litter, I suppose) that we used for a while but it wasn't great for smells.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Lobby for ReusablesWhat are some of the cases you could make to an employer for why switching to durable dishes and utensils is actually in their best interest as well?
Sabrina DiNella 7/09/2019 10:39 AMPractice what we preach! We are educating the public about ways to reduce their waste so we need to set a good example. -
Sabrina DiNella 7/08/2019 11:17 AMI saw a lot of plastic in use for the holiday weekend, however, our friend group that was in town did a really great job of trying to reduce their plastic use by refusing straws and using reusable cups :)
